Majors in either Philosophy or Religion can receive departmental honors if they fulfill the following special requirement in addition to the regular requirements:
- Obtain a 3.5 grade-point average in the courses taken toward the departmental major and a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average in the entire undergraduate program.
In recognition of the satisfactory completion of the honors program, a student’s permanent academic record will receive the notation Honors in Philosophy or Honors in Religion.
Note: Departmental honors previously required also the successful completion of an honors thesis through enrollment in an Independent Study course. However, as of Spring semester 2020, this requirement has been eliminated.
