Ethics Minor (383) 18 Credits

  • Six courses from among the following or with EAV designation within Philosophy or Religion (18 Credits)

  • Two courses can be substituted for the above with EAV designation from another department

Philosophy Minor (730) 18 Credits

  • At least two of the following (6 Credits): Introduction to Logic (730:201), History of Philosophy I (730:211), History of Philosophy II (730:212), Ethics (730:226)
  • Four additional courses in Philosophy (12 Credits)

Religion Minor (840) 18 Credits

  • At least two of the following (6 Credits): Introduction to Religious Studies (840:101), Introduction to World Religions (840:103), Asian Religions (840:111), Jews, Christians, and Muslims (840:112)
  • Four additional courses in Religion (12 Credits)

Philosophy and Religion Minor (733) 18 Credits

  • At least one of the following (3 Credits): Introduction to Logic (730:201), History of Philosophy I (730:211), History of Philosophy II (730:212), Ethics (730:226)
  • At least one of the following (3 Credits): Introduction to Religious Studies (840:101), Introduction to World Religions (840:103), Asian Religions (840:111), Jews, Christians, and Muslims (840:112)
  • Two additional courses in Philosophy (6 Credits)
  • Two additional courses in Religion (6 Credits)

Additional Information:

Dual Credit

Students who are completing both a Philosophy major and a Religion major, or a major plus a minor, may count up to three courses toward the requirements of both programs.

Students who are completing a major or minor another department in Arts and Sciences (e.g. Political Science) may count up to three of those courses toward a major or minor in the Department of Philosophy and Religion, with permission of the Department Chair.

Registering for Closed Classes

In the event that a student with a major or minor in Philosophy or Religion wishes to register for a class that is already closed, the department will provide upon request, whenever possible, special permission numbers for registration.
